With a total length of approximately 85 meters, the ship will be characterized by excellent qualities in terms of sea keeping as well as high manoeuvrability, guaranteed by an electric propulsion system of the azimuth type powered by an electric power plant and by two bow thrusters bows for dynamic positioning, which ensure the environmental sustainability of the vessel.

The patrol boat P04 “Osum”, from about 60 meters long, is the first deep-sea patrol green fleet equipped for the Fiamme Gialle and it is used for the performance of the functions of economic and financial police at sea. It will have, like the previous units realized for the Italian Finance Police, the bow to axe or Axe Bow able to guarantee an excellent estate to the sea also during severe weather sea conditions and without having to limit the speed and the characteristic of being a medium with low emissions and reduced environmental impact thanks to the presence of a hybrid engine. The presence of two auxiliary electric generators for propulsion at low patrol speeds, about 8-9 knots, will guarantee incredibly low emission levels compared to the use of traditional endothermic engines, reduced fuel consumption and low noise. OPV748
The OPV P71 built for the Maltese Armed Forces has the possibility to accommodate a crew of 50 and the ability to embark additional employee equal to 20 elements. The ship is characterized by an integrated bridge in an elevated position with 360-degree viewing capability and side passages protected for the crew on the main deck and around the same dashboard. The aft area below the flight deck shall have a launch and recovery station always aft for an RHIB of 9,1 m with additional space for materials and crew as well as doors on the overhead flight deck for the loading/unloading of materials thanks to a special crane on the port side of the ship. A second 9.1-meter RHIB station is located on the starboard side of the platform in the main area of the ship. Both RHIB have a maximum speed of over 40 knots for maritime traffic control and search and rescue operations. The hybrid propulsion of the P71 is focused on two diesel engines of 5,440 kW each that together with as many electric motors of unspecified power on two axes with variable pitch propeller groups can offer (all together) a maximum speed of more than 20 knots. The new unit is equipped with a forward thruster and mobile stabilizer fins to ensure greater seaworthiness.
